Just a quick note to inform my Dutch and English readers that the apron-skirt ADELINDE and the circle-skirt JANA (which is a freebie) are now available for download in your language at farbenmix.
ADELINDE is an apron-skirt with an a-lined underskirt. The apron is either sewn directly into the skirt’s waistband or simply buttoned onto the sides and tied up at the back. This means it can be used with other skirts, dresses, pants, whatever you like, or omit the apron and wear the underskirt as a simple skirt. If you’re rushed for time, use a ready-made skirt, button the apron onto it and you’ll have a gorgeous skirt for any special occasion!
In autumn/winter use cotton poplin or soft corduroy/velvet for the underskirt and coordinate with a corduroy/velvet or jeans apron. In summer, sew both underskirt and apron from poplin or taffeta for a lovely romantic appeal. The apron will host lots of embroidery, trimming and give room for expansive fairy-tale-telling.
ADELINDE kann also be combined with the dress pattern JOELLE. I’m working on a demo for you as we speak….
ADELINDE also combines with JANA (see the circle closing?). Speaking of circle. JANA is a classic circle skirt, but without all the fiddling of compasses and mathematics. The tutorial has a ready-to-cut pattern for you to simply paste together. It’s widely swinging skirt will be a sure favourite for your daughter; girls of all ages will love to twirl and watch the fabric spin around. It looks great made from soft corduroy, jeans or poplin and with Farbenmix’ ADELINDE apron buttoned to it’s sides.
Both patterns are ideal beginner’s skirts as they do not involve any complicated sewing techniques. Furthermore, your daughter will appreciate their comfortable – and practical – elastic waistband. Advanced seamstresses will have fun modifying the simple silhouhettes to their needs. Make colourful patchwork-skirts by dividing the pattern horizontally/vertically or by adding layered ruffles to the back.
